UC CLINICAL FACULTY & PROFESSORS ARE JOINING TOGETHER

FOR OUR RESEARCH. OUR PROFESSION. OUR FUTURE.

Clinical professors, faculty, and physicians are coming together across UC to form our union with healthcare professionals in UPTE.

Faculty professionals throughout different professions, including from psychologists, physicists, nursing faculty, pharmacists, researchers, physical therapists, and public health advocates, are organizing alongside our physician colleagues because we share many of the same concerns and are often facing barriers due to the lack of support staffing, resources, and meaningful voices within the institution. By organizing with physicians and other professionals in UPTE, we will have a real seat at the table to advocate for our patients, research, students, and communities.

Many of our colleagues who regularly perform similar, if not identical, work as us are already represented by UPTE and receive benefits and protections they won together through collective bargaining, including guaranteed salary increases, stronger workplace protections, and a formal voice in decisions that affect their work.

Meanwhile, many faculty professionals and physicians have little say over our benefits and the conditions that shape our professions. At UCSD, for example, faculty psychologists are facing a 10% pay cut while their UPTE-represented psychologist colleagues are receiving guaranteed pay increases.

We can work together to secure these same rights—and fight for our top priorities—by unionizing with UPTE.

As workloads and financial pressures continue to grow, forming our union will allow us to strengthen our ability to advocate for our patients, students, and the future of our professions.
